“Dio” (sung to the tune of “Rio” by Duran Duran)

by Dan Cunneen

Moving on the stage, you're an Elf in paradise
Long twisting tresses, yes they suit you very nice
Hands lifted and fingers raised, you form the devil’s horns
It's something special, cuz it’s with you that sign was born

His name is Dio, he sings of dragons from his page
A leather angel trumpeting metal’s golden age
And when he sings he really shows you all he can
Oh Dio, Dio keep on rocking little man

We saw you on the stage, but not on MTV
Color of the Rainbow, and an ax-man called Ritchie
Heaven and Hell with Sabbath, as black as the oiled night
Oh yes we all know that you sang it all so right

His name is Dio and he gave it all it’s worth
Just like a Hobbit dwelling deep in middle earth
And when he sings he really shows you all he can
Oh Dio, Dio keeping on rocking little man

Ride the tiger, but watch out for his teeth
The beast that slew you, it came from underneath
But you’re alive, alive alive…
A holy diver loyal to the cause, luck is on your side or something
I know what you're singing I tell you something I know what you're singing…

His name is Dio, he’s the master of the moon
Spinning tales of magic, he was taken far too soon
And when he sings he really shows you all he can
Oh Dio, Dio keeping on rocking little man

His name is Dio now he breathes in a different world
At least we had him here with metal’s flag unfurled
And when he sings it sets our blood a boil
Oh Dio, Dio you blessed this mortal coil
